All Whites land major sponsor boost for Glasgow 2026 push

New Zealand’s national team has secured One NZ as a premium partner just weeks before the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with the telco joining the side’s support network ahead of LA28.

The deal was unveiled to One NZ staff on Wednesday, when legends Hamish Carter, Nigel Avery, Emma Twigg and Eric Murray surprised employees at the company’s national Legends conference in Auckland. CEO Jason Paris called the partnership a chance to celebrate the unseen work behind podium finishes. “Everyone sees the podium, but very few see the years of preparation, resilience and teamwork that make those moments possible,” Paris said. “We see those same qualities in our own people every day.”

New Zealand Olympic Committee CEO Nicki Nicol said One NZ will deepen the bond between fans and athletes. “Behind every Olympian is an incredible team. Today that team becomes even stronger,” she said. Rowing gold medalist Emma Twigg added: “Connection is at the heart of world-class performances. I can’t think of a better partnership to support this.”

Why this matters for New Zealand

The partnership arrives as the All Whites prepare for their next home fixture on November 12, 2026 against India. Their recent form shows three losses in the last five matches, including a 1-5 defeat to Belgium on June 27, 2026. One NZ’s involvement aims to strengthen the support network for athletes chasing LA28 qualification.

Hamish Carter, Athens 2004 gold medalist, stressed the importance of support networks. “Standing on the podium in Athens reflected the work of an entire team behind me,” he said. “Partnerships like this help strengthen that network on the road to LA28.”

What fans can expect next

One NZ will create new ways for Kiwis to connect with the athletes’ stories and performances. The partnership kicks off before Glasgow 2026, which runs from July 23 to August 2, 2026. Excitement is already building for LA28, scheduled for July 14–30, 2028.

Last result: New Zealand 1-5 Belgium (2026-06-27). Recent form (last 5): 0W-2D-3L (LLDDL, most recent first); lost the last 2. Next fixture: vs India (at home, 2026-11-12).
